Track and Field

In my "day job" I am one of the track coaches at the school where I teach. We're hosting the league finals this week, so during the competition I snuck away quickly to compose a shot of the runners on the "track" at a slightly different view from the "field". Not a usual thing to have roses blooming near a track, but it made for a fun image.

More images from the track meet to come. Check back!

Images from the Field

I had a few moments during the track meet yesterday to snap some quick shots. Not a lot planning, just some willing subjects (thanks to whoever left the Chucks in the middle of the field) and some decent light. Enjoy life, beautiful.

First Meet of the Year

Took part in our first track meet of the year yesterday, tried to do some coaching and catch a few images at the same time. Here's a few of my favorites:

Sara's Soccer Match

I was invited to watch a soccer match between rivals King and Poly. Sara is in one of my history classes and plays goalie for King. The game turned out to be a tie score, and here are some images from the action.

Pepperdine University

A lot of my photos come from the sport I coach, cross country. One of the things I just love about the sport is that it is so natural. The races are held almost anywhere, and the swirling pack of runners, undulating around bends and the curves of earth, make for some awesome photos... Oh, to have the time to sit and actually compose a shot of action, sadly I'm trying to be both photographer and coach at the same time. Occassionally I'm a good coach, occassionally, I get a good shot.

This was taken in 2007 at Pepperdine University, just about an hour after a big rainstorm muddied the course and beautified the skies.
