My Friend Jim

I've known Jim for a decade now ... a truly good guy. I coach with him in the Fall and Spring, and he's as steady and loyal as the day is long, not to mention funny! Here's a few shots I stole from him ... he's quick to respond, "come on, put your camera away..."

Texas Sky

While I was in Texas recently, a thunderstorm swept through the area and left an odd mix of cloud and light on it's way out of town. There was no editing done on this image, just straight out of the camera!

Martin Luther King Day

On MLKing Day, I thought it'd be appropriate to acknowledge Dr. King's impact on America. Pictured is Dexter Ave Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, the church King preached at in the mid-late 1950's. It was in it's basement that the initial planning meeting for the Montgomery Bus Boycott was held.

I visited the site in October, 2007. It was an inspiring place, and I wrote about that experience here.

Claire and Jared

This was an impromptu session with Claire and Jared in Ft.Worth Texas.

Disney Lights

While at Disneyland over the holidays, I deliberately went "unfocused" for this shot of main street, mainly trying to get that effect with the lights. The part of the image that really caught my eye though, was the sky. That's straight out of the camera, no photoshopping!

San Francisco Morning

A couple of years ago while traveling in San Francisco, the morning light caught these buildings nicely.

Growth

While traveling in the San Juan Islands a couple of summers ago, we happened upon a long wooden fence. In that soggy climate, needless to say there were all kinds of things growing on it. I've never seen this kind of fungus, though.

It's a Blur

Taken in the spring of '08...

Pepperdine University

A lot of my photos come from the sport I coach, cross country. One of the things I just love about the sport is that it is so natural. The races are held almost anywhere, and the swirling pack of runners, undulating around bends and the curves of earth, make for some awesome photos... Oh, to have the time to sit and actually compose a shot of action, sadly I'm trying to be both photographer and coach at the same time. Occassionally I'm a good coach, occassionally, I get a good shot.

This was taken in 2007 at Pepperdine University, just about an hour after a big rainstorm muddied the course and beautified the skies.

Cascading Clouds

This is a shot I got while driving through the Cascades National Park in Washington, 2007. The clouds were just rolling down the mountain toward the lake. The pier jutting out into the mist was a nice surprise.
