Creating Art out of Photos

I just now officially finished processing the photos I took of Kyle and Haley. It was a fun, if not time consuming task.

One of the things I'd like to make a mark of my budding business is using not just the camera and lens to create great images for my clients, but to add a flair of creativity and artistry in the processing of those images, helping them come to life as artistic representations of that moment, not just photos.

Here are a couple examples of some of the work I did with the images I took of Kyle and Haley, and what can be done with you, should you like the work I do!

Kyle and Haley

My friend Ned has a surprise in store for his wife on Mother's Day. Ned is a colleague and friend of mine and pulled out all the stops for what should be a perfect Mothers Day gift. I mean, what mom wouldn't want photos of their kiddos ...

shot in great locations...
outfitted with matching attire...
clothes bought by Dad on a secret shopping mission...
arranged on an afternoon when she was busy working...
and all done with "top secret" stamped all over it.

Well, unless Kyle, who is 3, slips and spills it. But let's hope he doesn't.

Either way, I think it's going to be the perfect gift come the big day. Great idea Ned! Thanks for letting me be a part of it!

Kyle and Haley ... A Sneak Peek!

I had the great opportunity to shoot the adorable kids of one of my friends and colleagues yesterday! I'll post many more shots of the two in the next few days, but here's a sneak peek of what's in store!

The Grand Floridian

One year ago this week, my wife, me and Mackenzie had one of our all-time great family vacations. We got to go to Disney World for four days, and just had a blast. Great spring weather, and a vacation that not only met the needs of a 7 year old, but also a couple of old folks (if early 40's is old).

Here's a photo project of the Grand Floridian, Disney World's showcase hotel and resort. We're living on Memory Lane this week!

And of the Wilderness Lodge, where we stayed.

More Team Photo Fun

A few more shots from the team photo day. Far more casual and spontaneous, basically an impromptu session, but some fun images anyway.

Taylor Scott Missed Team Photo Day!

It's a seasonal ritual in which studio photographers battle immature teenagers who think a "funny face" would actually improve the final product. Coaches yell and threaten, and if we're lucky, the winning shot is snapped while the yahoo in the back row is figuring out what his next face will look like. Well, Taylor missed the big day and it's followup individual photos in which the athlete smiles and says "cheese" for one image of little artistic merit and lots of American money.

Maybe missing the team photo day was a blessing in disguise, because come on, we can do better than that! So Taylor asked if I could take some quick shots before this week's track meet when she would be in uniform. Obviously, our possibilities and time was limited, but I said Yes and despite a rushed session and few options for settings, she pulled off some good images. Helps when you have a photogenic subject ... Taylor Rocks!

PS: On the third image I took some Photoshop license with the effects and color!
